As you know I was to be induced on August 17th, 2011 because of my heart/breathing issues! We were told we would get a call in morning and the phone rang at 6 am telling us to head on over! Thankfully Andrea was staying at the house helping out for the day! So we packed up the rest of the car kissed the big kids goodbye and headed our way! They were all so excited waving goodbye! I grabbed this shot with my cell as we pulled out the driveway!

We got to the hospital around 7 and were ready to go!

And thats when the nerves started in! I totally teared up when we were checked in the room. Even though I had been through it before birthing a baby still freaks me out. And I hate pain. And needles. But the excitement to meet my princess kicked in and within two hours they had me checked in and hooked up to the pitocin drip...

I was actually already contracting on my own when I came in (had been for two weeks!! So annoying) They increase the pitocin very slowly (too slowly in my opinion) And every 30 minutes they came in checked my pain level on a scale of 1-10 and then increased the amount in being dripped into my IV.
Dave keeping himself busy! Thank goodness for cell phone with internet.. Lots of waiting at this point. 4 hours later I was still only 2cm dilated and very frustrated by the slow progress. The doctor mentioned this may be 16+ hours. Um yeah. I cried. Seriously??
I was SO hungry but not allowed to eat anything but popsicles. Confession: I snuck a cereal bar around 2pm and I still survived!
Still hanging in there! Feeling more but nothing I couldn't handle!

I had grabbed our latest red box arrival to watch while we waited.. SO I got to breath through contractions and watched people get eaten by warewolves!
The contractions were bearable for most of the morning. But early afternoon they started to get pretty intense. And super close together! I attempted to use the birthing ball, breathing techniques etc. but I was over the pain pretty quickly being exhausted and hungry and gave into the epideral around 4:15. I was 4cm dilated at that point.
Now with Luke I didn't even feel the second shot. This time it hurt like HELL. The pressure was insane. Like a small bus was pounding my back. And guess what? It didn't work. My feet went numb but the contractions were stronger then ever. The pictures stop after this one! Until her birth! The next 30 minutes were not fun as I clung to the bed asking them to help me but of course there was nothing the nurses or Dave could do. At first they kept saying it will kick in give it a few more minutes.. another ten minutes it will work. They tried increasing the amount but it wasn't helping. The nurse checked me again and realized I was ready to push. Dammit I should have saved 837 bucks and skipped the epideral with all this pain!! With Luke I pushed for over 2 hours. But this time I only had to push for 14 minutes! Sloan arrived at 4:56 and Carrie arrived about 4:57 to capture the moments afterwards!! I am working on the photo slideshow and will get that up soon :)
